Today we are going to discuss Christmas lists for the kids! I am going to focus on what works for my kids and hopefully it will inspire you for kids of all ages :). Claire is a week from 15, Owen is 12, and Bree is 9 – so this may not be great for toddlers, but I honestly think these ages are more difficult. I am not going to include big ticket items like phones, game systems, etc.- this is for all the other “stuff”.
OK! Let’s chat teenagers – specifically my teenage daughter. I think we overthink this too much – teenage girls are hard, but you can definitely still blow their minds too! Here are some things that I think will work :)…
Cell Phone cases are always a win! Amazon has tons and you can always find a great deal at TJ Maxx and Homegoods. And don’t forget pop sockets – they are always a win around here- not even sure why they love them so much – but the do :). One thing that I know Claire loves is to have a clear phone case because she can put things in the back of it that mean something to her – like a movie ticket or a picture! That leads me to my next idea – one of those new Polaroid cameras! They are so cute and my girls LOVE them! They can take pics and immediately spits out a mini polaroid (don’t forget to buy film too!)- Claire and Bree hang them on lights in their room – and like I said Claire likes to put one in the back of her phone case. Lights are a great idea too – Claire has a wall of lights in her room – they hang vertically from a long horizontal strand across the top and she hangs pictures, fortunes, tickets, etc. with mini clothespins. Also in her room, Claire has a clothing rack that is her favorite! She hangs her uniforms and favorite clothes on it – I love it because it gives no excuses for clothes to be in the floor. They are inexpensive and a fun add to their room. You can also get some velvet hangers for them to use on it so its even more cool :). Mirrors are always a great idea – a big one for outfit selfies :), and a lighted one for putting on makeup. Makeup is actually easier than you think – eyeshadow palettes, lip gloss kits, beauty blenders, and mascaras are easy and there are tons of options. One more thing is the new Blue Light Glasses. They are universal and SO cute. All of the kids look at their phones and electronics a LOT – this will help them AND be a fun gift. Claire and Bree both love them.
Bree is at an age that she loves everything Claire does, but still a little girl at heart. That makes gifting fun with her. She loves her camera like Claire’s too, the lights in her room, and loves her fancy mirror. Bath bombs are a favorite of hers (like LOVES them), any kind of glitter spray, rubber bracelets, and of course chokers :). There are also tons of cute options of decorative lights – they are plastic with bulbs that light up – she really likes those at night for a night light. Another great gift would be a pretty journal and pens – Bree loves to write a like a big girl. Fake glasses or blue light glasses are always a win with her age too. Scrunchies and fun ponytail holders are always a win. Oh and Bree loves a good hair wrap to wear in the shower and not get her hair wet :).
Boys can be difficult only if you go into it with high expectations. Here is the deal – Owen is easily pleased and knows what her likes. Different from the girls, he does not need an experience with his gifts :). Owen is thrilled to death if I buy him a bulk pack of batteries HA! Or a nice Xbox gift card. He always loves a good set of headphones or new charger. Both for boys and girls, a portable charger is ALWAYS a good idea! Owen likes a good pair of house shoes for taking out the trash. He also loves beanies and hats. He uses his drawstring backpacks all the time too. Here is my advice with boys: if you are struggling, just stop. Buy a few things and give them a gift card. Trust me – they always love that 🙂
Ok – here is the best part – all of this is on Amazon! Below is a link to my Amazon list that includes these items and a few more things that my kids love – let me know if you have any questions or need more info – I have bought all of these things :).
Post a picture of the lights in their room..,this sounds like a great idea!!
