Ready or not- it’s Halloween weekend! One of the most common stresses for mamas is that we REALLY want to be that fun mom and blow our kids’ minds, but we run out of time, energy, and money- and then here we are pissed that we didn’t do it. Let me tell you a secret…it takes very little effort to make a big impact. You don’t have to do a huge production, spend tons of money, and prepare for days. In fact, thanks to Amazon (praise Jesus for Prime 🙌🏼), the Target Dollar Spot, and trusty ole Walmart, you can throw together a memorable day in a moments’ notice. You have to just take a few minutes and freaking do it. We spend more time stressed that we didn’t already do it, when we could have already opened an app and got it done! Honestly, think about it! When you see my posts and things I do- trust me 90% of the time it was thrown together last minute with very little planning ahead of time. We are talking I have been known to be running through the store on Halloween grabbing stuff! Never once regretted it and would much rather spend my time doing that ☺️. So I want to help you out this year- we have enough time to order even and be ready- here are my ideas and tips for a fun Halloween with your kids:
Easy decorations! This is so easy and relatively cheap 🙌🏼. I know I know- Halloween decorations are tacky but since when does that matter to our kids. I hate spiders, HATE them. But the year I started surprising the kids when the woke up on Halloween or when they got home from school with our living room covered in spider webs- my kids minds’ were blown and they still love it at older ages. Spiders webs are cheap! And don’t think you have to have them up for a few days even- just do it for Halloween and then take down (so easy) after the kids go to bed. Very little work, big impact!
Another thing I have done is put up ghosts! I came up with this idea many years ago when I was trying to do something on the actual day and could not find anything that wasn’t overpriced. Here is a quick tutorial on how to make ghosts to hang in your home – supplies: white balloons, white twin sheet set, fishing lure, and a black sharpie:
- Take white balloons and blow them up – no need for helium.
- Take white twin sheets- separate them out separately (even the pillow cases) and drape over the balloon to create a ghost.
- Cut a small hole at the top of the ghost in the sheet to stick the part of the ballon you tied through.
- Tie some fishing lure to that tied up part of balloon and leave slack to hang from ( you want the ghost to look like it’s floating)
- Take a black sharpie and draw a face on the ghost (on the sheet)- you can look on my Pinterest board I am linking below for templates).
- Hang from door facings, entry ways, stairs, etc.
All supplies linked here for easy ordering! A good blogger would have a picture tutorial but y’all know I am a hot mess 😂. Maybe next year!

Here is a pic of mine from Halloween past ☺️ the even better part- I still have these decorations! You might need to freshen up ghost faces that faded, but this is not a one and done 🙌🏼. I wish I had better pics of my ghosts – but you get the idea.
Mama dress up! Ok I am not a huge fan of dressing up for Halloween. I mean come on. How many times do we need to go to an adult Halloween party where we dress up and then end up sitting around looking at each other in costume like a bunch idiots 😂😂? I am not talking full costume- but it would not kill you and make a fun impact on your kids if you threw on a few things with clothes you already have! Cat ears with a black sweater, mouse ears with a gray cardigan, chefs hat and apron, cowboy hat with a flannel shirt to be a scarecrow, even a pirate hat with black and white stripes. Maybe even get really crazy and add a little face paint ☺️. Or be funny and wear a shirt that says “this is my Halloween costume”. Cheap and easy- and your kids would love it 😊! I found a bunch of these items on amazon cheap- easy peasy! Have this stuff on at pickup and they will love it. Or be embarrassed- either way, they will never forget 😉.

Food! Pinterest is your friend! You don’t need a million ingredients or prep a bunch – maybe just some edible eyes from the baking aisle at Walmart or some plastic teeth! Breakfast, snacks, whatever! Again, easy with an impact! Don’t overthink it – just do a something easy and be proud ☺️. Links to a few items here and also I created a Pinterest board of fun things to inspire you! You don’t have to follow the recipes- just be inspired and do what works for y’all.

Not too bad, right?! Remember, don’t put too much pressure on yourself, keep it fun, easy, and cheap!
Also- one more thing I want to say- if you can’t get this done this year due to funds, time, or whatever other reason- don’t you dare feel bad or like a bad mom. Your kids need you in your best more than some Halloween spider webs. Cheer up, don’t feel anything less than blessed to be alive with those babies, and enjoy this week. It’s ok ☺️.
Please let me know if you by tagging me in any pics or posts if you do these things- I can’t wait to see! Here is a link to all the items one more time in Amazon shop and I added a few more things too if you want to do more (hellllloooo inflatables!!)
I love these ideas I have never done spider webs because I didn’t want all October. I may just surprise her with that this year!
Lauren is going to be little red riding hood so I am throwing on some wolf ears and a grey cardigan. She was so excited when I told her last week I would be the wolf.
Love this! Oh and the dollar tree where I am is amazing for Halloween decorations.
I always forget about those places!!! I need to add that to my list 🙂
